Newbie wanting to be a part of the club

Hi All,

I thought it was time to introduce myself. I have been lurking around these boards for almost a year as I prepare for my WLS. My name is Laura and I am having my surgery through S. Calif. Kaiser. If you have heard anything about Kaiser they require a 24 week Options program prior to having the surgery. I'm 4 weeks away from completing the class and I'm planning on having the VSG at UCLA with Dr. Mehran or Dr. Dutson.

Anyways... just wanted to finally stop in and introduce myself and say hello.

So, can I be a part of the California OH club?

You bet you can join the gang LOL  Let me be the first to say a Hardy Welcome!  I'm fairly new myself..had RNY surgery 1 week ago today.  You won't find a better group of people who are sincere, compassionate, encouraging and supportative than the Cali group.

I had surgery Kaiser Richmond (No Calif)..and no one Kaiser seems to do things the same...sorry I can't help you in that area:-( But good luck on your journey and keep us informed!  Ask questions...someone here will have the answer ^_^

Welcome.  My cousin has VSG down in Mexico and she has done a great job losing all the weight she needed to in about 8 months. 

Good luck in your class and on your surgery.  Come by anytime and say hi, ask questions, whatever.  We are here for support all.

What a wonderful, warm welcome - just what I expected from the California girls - thank you everyone. I appreciate all your wisdom and kindness. I've gotten so much support and motivation from you without any of you knowing I was watching and learning from your posts.
 
I have to admit that I'm nervous and excited and inpatient at the thought of coming so close to getting WLS - something I've wanted for so many years. It's a lot of hard work being fat and I'm tired of it.

I live in Simi Valley but would love to meet you r group in Long Beach. I don't know about this saturday as I have plans with my sister but I would love to join your coffee talk.

Welcome to the board.  You will do well with Dr Mehran and Dutson.  They are colleagues of the surgeon that I have worked with.  Where are you living and where do you work as an RN?  I am also an RN and am 4.5 years out.

It's nice to meet another RN. I'm in Simi Valley and I'm currently working for Ventura County Public Health in the Child Abuse Prevention Program - I'm working as a Public Health Nurse. Where did the surgeon you worked with practice - UCLA?
